Digg is a technology news website that combines social bookmarking, blogging, RSS, and non-hierarchical editorial control. With digg, users submit stories for review, but rather than allow an editor to decide which stories go on the homepage, the users do. Yesterday a story about linuxcaffe was submitted to DIGG and today over 650 people "digg" us !

WINE beta expected next week

After roughly 12 years of work, the Wine Project is about to take its widely used Windows translation layer to a place it has not been in all that time: beta.

Wine Project leader Alexandre Julliard, who has worked on the software nearly since its beginning in 1993 and maintained it since 1994, said interview yesterday that the beta release is "a matter of days away." He has since updated that forecast and said it would be released on Tuesday, October 25th.

The OpenOffice.org (OOo) Project released the long-awaited OOo 2.0 suite yesterday, completing a testing process that lasted more than a year.
OpenOffice.org is a free, full featured, office suite an an excellent alternative to M$ Office. IT will read (and write, if you must) Microsoft Office files, and is available for free download for Windown, Mac and linux.
