Pure Data; a real-time linux audio workshop

Dafydd Hughes and David McCallum will give a workshop on PD (Pure Data) : a real-time music and multimedia environment. I have no idea how it works, but Dafydd creates hits with it (with Feist) so it's gotta be good !

Dafyyd describes pd as sort of a programming language meets a flowcharting program, and demonstrated some basic multimedia handling. It's only good looking if you consider an xterm session good looking, but WOW is it powerful ! In a matter of seconds he whipped up a spinning openGL cube of live video with a stack of effects. The parameter handling, as well as module interconnects was easy and intuitive. I personally want to be able to use this tool (bit of c programming) and am really looking forward to the workshop.

I should say that the facebook link above has important information about prepping your machine for the workshop. So if you plan on attending, make sure you read the instructions there.

We're cutting the content from a 10-hour workshop down to this 2-hour one, so we won't have time to bug test your Pd installations. But if you have to learn with a buddy, that's not so bad!
