Amanda glows in the hood

PostCity
Amanda M
I recognize Martinez’s hair immediately. Natural and bouncy, much like her personality, I can spot it a mile away as she strides toward the Linux Caffe at the corner of Christie and Harbord.

Slow jazz lingers in the air of the coffee shop as the gorgeous Latin musician enters the front door. We find immediate common ground in our love of baked goods and warm drinks on an ugly winter’s day.

linux, ubuntu and linuxcaffe were featured in the IT Quarterly insert of the Globe and Mail, on September 10, 2007.

(from the article) In Toronto, the physical seat of this community is Linuxcaffe, a small coffee shop at the corner of Harbord and Grace streets, on the southeast corner of Bickford Park, in a beautiful and leafy part of the Annex neighbourhood.

Tina Gasperson, open-source news scribbler extrordinaire, published a story about linuxcaffe entitled "Latte and Linux in Toronto". Newsforge is THE Open Source online news site, and is brought to you by OSTG, the same folks who harbour ThinkGeek, Slashdot, Linux.com, SourceForge.net, and freshmeat.com.
They say that any press is good press, but I say Newsforge is very good press !

People DIGG linuxcaffe

Digg is a technology news website that combines social bookmarking, blogging, RSS, and non-hierarchical editorial control. With digg, users submit stories for review, but rather than allow an editor to decide which stories go on the homepage, the users do. Yesterday a story about linuxcaffe was submitted to DIGG and today over 650 people "digg" us !

It's official; we're a landmark !

We've been mentioned in Now Magazine for TWO WEEKS IN A ROW !
(sorry for shouting)

fashionnotes writer Andrew Sardone, in announcing the opening of Tosca Terans' nanopod, said that it was "next door to Harbord and Graces cyberphile Linuxcaffe"..

.. and isn't that the very definition of landmark ?

Hot diggity ! :D

Jeff Waugh visits linuxcaffe

jdub
"Head beekeeper" of the GNOME release team and a director of the GNOME Foundation", jdub hisself was in the caffe this morning munching on a fried egg sandwich and generally whipping up ubuntu enthusiasm with his mere presence.

Now magazine reviews linuxcaffe

Reviewer Lisa Paul wrote a review of linuxcaffe entitled "Linux and laptops" and gave us an NNN rating (Reccomended, worthy of repeat visits). While the review was cute and complimentary, and she found the panini "delish", I'd like to set a few things straight;

While the Tuscan bean soup made Lisas' "tastebuds sing", the "nasty powdered substitute on offer" was, in fact, genuine grated Romano.
... maybe you've got a point there, Ms Paul, it was kinda dry and crumbly, from now on we'll grate it ourselves.
