This year was fantastic and thanks to everyone who worked hard to make it a success; Stephen Brooke, Ray and Karen Johnston, Michael McMurtry, Paul theMailman, and all the fantastic neighbours who brought good stuff, played music and made the day spectaculalrly fun !
The first annual Jersey Ave Street Party, will be kicking off Saturday Morning, with a gigantic street sale. For more info on the street party, go to the JSP homepage. This is going to be a spectacular bash !.
The real fun of a Street Party comes from getting together out doors, without worrying about cars. That's why we close the street down.
It is, however, likely to cause some inconvenience, for some people. The street will be closed at 1:30pm, from Clinton to Harbord, and we are asking ALL residents and friends to do something else with their vehicles for the day.
Did you know that many of your neighbours were really good musicians ? Well, it's true !
Several musical performers are lined up to entertain us; some in groups, with amplification, from the stage area, and others will be roving around playing acoustically, but there's room for more ! If you like to play, or know someone who does, make sure that Michael knows, so we can reserve a time slot.
There will be drinks and snacks available throughout the day; burgers, dogs, corn-on-the-cob, lemonade and iced tea. If you want anything special, bring it along and someone will be happy to toss it on a BBQ, but don't forget to save room for the
Pot Luck Dinner
Imagine ten tables lined up along the middle of the street, with candles, musicians playing softly, a mountain of home cooked goodness, and several dozen of the nicest neighbours anywhere enjoying the meal together.
Jersey Ave has a surprising number of tallented artists AND a quiet little laneway that would be perfect to display it. If you have some of your artwork that you would like to show off (and maybe even sell) we will be turning the laneway into an outdoor gallery, for the occasion.
A number of artists have already agreed to show their stuff, but there's still lots of room. If you know a neighbour whose work should be seen, phone or send email, or just get them to bring it down sometime in the morning.
