i fixed my problem ,i had built a new pc and could not get my network to work so i sent away for a ubuntu 9.04 cd and did a fresh install . all is well now i went out and got blender now i have lots to do . i guess my atemp at making the cd with my old pc was not up to speed . the conical cd worked .
